Mark learned to play at a very young age following his brother, Paul Wenski, who coached him on the rudiments of Guitar. (Paul became a school teacher in Auckland) We played together at family gatherings in our early ages.
In the early years there was not much inspiration at our schools, Music classes were very traditional back then, but the Music on the air waves certainly did its calling. Influenced even with the old TV shows like Nana Mouskouri, Andy Williams, the Seekers drawn to the Musicianship, right up through the Country, Cabaret & Jazz, Blues, Rock n roll to Pop hits.
In College, Mark formed a band with some friends, managed to get some old gear together and started rehearsing, then came the school dances, you can guess who the band was every year! - At this time I had a Guitar Tutor, (Malcolm Berry-The Jansen Trio) he was a great player and teacher.
Had a lot to thank Malcolm for, apart from his tuition he took our little three piece and started booking us around the clubs, lounges and various venues putting dollars in our pocket. This was a great experience for young musicians like ourselves and eventually started me on the road to various bands and music styles.
As the years went by, gigging in many different situations, some are listed on Ricko’s site, here we are today, and still putting out the sounds, vibes and ideas. While the Music is playing all of the Worldly troubles fade into the background, and that ain’t a bad thing.
Recent times still gigging 2026 around Auckland, also Entertaining Solo and gigging in Auckland Duo Night Moves with Soloist Dana.
