"The Electrons" a Wellington group which started out in 1964 at a popular Kelburn Youth club, The lineup was Rick White on vocals and Rhythm guitar, Bruce Sheerin on Bass, Paul Densham on Guitar and John Hall (known as Moon) on drums. Paul Densham was replaced by Milton Parker in 1965 and Bruce Sheerin was replaced by Dave Jenkinson on Bass. Their repertoire was R&B and by 1966 they had changed their name to "The Relics" - At that time John Hall was replaced on drums by Alan Beamsley.Their sound and look were much wilder than of yore. .
The many dances and clubs around Wellington and suburbs at that time were popular with teenagers, as the pubs closed at 6pm until 1967, and as the drinking age was 21, this ensured groups had many venues to play. Tom McDonald and Ken Cooper, both formerly members of 1950s groups, ran many of these and managed the bands....Info and Image`s C/- Ross Burgess.
