"The Vibrations" 1966 A group from Auckland, Played mainly dances and were associated with another band named "The Plague`s" - If you have any further info on this band please contact me on the homepage.
Tony de Jong of the Plague`s Band wrote:The Plague and the Vibrations play for Club West End (1967). Local West Auckland newspaper clippings report on the bands involved and advertise the venue. On one occasion, both bands played (downstairs) in a building on the corner of Great North Road and Trading Place in Henderson. This was where a space had been redecorated to be utilised as a possible future nightclub, but plans to that effect did not eventuate.
The Vibrations once appeared on-stage during intermission at the Henderson picture theatre. At some stage, both bands attended a professional photoshoot (arranged by Mrs. Marsters, mother of the Vibrations' lead guitarist) by a Henderson based photographer. The outcome of that sitting is unknown and the proofs may never have been seen by anyone since the Club West End venture would not have been lucrative and the members of both bands went their separate ways.
Henderson based band The Vibrations were managed by guitarist Tony Marsters' mother, former entertainer Colleen "Kim Martin" Marsters. After the demise of the band circa 1967, bassist Bill Haagh (left) and Tony de Jong (guitarist ex The Plague) came together to form a new group. This collaboration was successful.
